Grit and Growth Scholarship Opportunities

CECP is offering two scholarship opportunities in 2019.  Our Governing Board President's Award is for graduating Seniors and our Growth Fund Competition is for 9th, 10th, and 11th graders.

Governing Board President’s Award for Graduating Seniors
Submission Window Opens: April 22, 2019
Deadline: May 6, 2019
Winner Announced: May 10, 2019

CECP is conducting a competition for all graduating seniors to create a piece that shows how Grit and/or Growth Mindset has been applied in their personal life.

Governing Board President’s Award Competition Guidelines
Mission: To encourage students to demonstrate Grit and a Growth Mindset in a manner that effects change in their personal life.

Concept: CEC wants to continue to support outstanding students once they leave our institution. Using the Grit and Growth Mindset themes, CEC is creating a dedicated fund for the purpose of continued support to students. In turn, graduating seniors will compete for a $2,500 scholarship (Governing Board President’s Award).
  • This fund will be dedicated exclusively to funding scholarships for students. Students of CEC employees are not eligible for receiving this type of funding.
  • Growth Fund Scholarship winners will be allowed access to funds after graduation. The funds must be used exclusively for college tuition, minimally for books, and not for computers. Students must turn in their bills for reimbursement.
  • Scholarship funds may not be transferred to any other individual.
  • The competitions are held in the spring semester.
  • Submissions must be turned in to Dr. Tuel’s office (room 205) or email at:

Growth Fund Competition: Grades 9, 10, & 11
Submission Window Opens: April 22, 2019
Deadline: May 6, 2019
Winner Announced: May 10, 2019

CECP is conducting a competition for all students in grades 9, 10, and 11 to create a piece that shows how Grit and/or Growth Mindset has been applied in your personal life.

CECP Growth Fund Competition Guidelines
Mission: To encourage students to demonstrate Grit and a Growth Mindset in a manner that effects change in their personal life.

Concept: Many students are running out of funding for college classes. The $4,200 voucher is not always able to cover all the costs of a student’s tuition. Using the Grit and Growth Mindset themes, Colorado Early Colleges is creating a dedicated fund for the purpose of enhancing the $4,200 voucher with additional funding. In turn, students in grades 9, 10, and 11 will compete for $500 to be added into their fall semester voucher.
  • This fund will be dedicated exclusively to funding scholarships for students. Students of CEC employees are not eligible for receiving this type of funding.
  • The funds must be used exclusively for college tuition or books, not computers. Students must turn in their bills for reimbursement.
  • Funds may not be transferred to any other individual and may not be taken if the student leaves CECP.
  • The funds may be held to be used in a different semester.
  • Submissions must be turned in to Dr. Tuel’s office (room 205) or email
